Dear Board of Directors,

It is my pleasure to propose that an exhibit be made focusing on how slaves in the United States overcame their great hardships and unpleasant times. I am happy to say that these terrible times are now only a memory. It is therefore necessary that we, meaning you and our group, create a museum in which we honor those slaves who were brutally mistreated and forced to work under terrible conditions all their lives. Let us not focus upon the crisis of slavery, but how the slaves kept hope and resisted their FATE. Little do we know how their everyday lives were. All we can even begin to imagine is the power of dreams, of hope, and how it got the slaves through the day. We also wish to highlight the slave rebellions and organizations such as the Underground Railroad, and their impacts on slavery and the South.

We already have plans for the overall exhibit. The entire exhibit will be in a circular room. Against the walls of the room would be dioramas, one titled Hope, another Field, another Music, another Slave Quarters, and another Religion. Each will have slave statues that would "talk" to the visitors, telling them information on the topic. In the center of the room would be a sitting area where live action such as plays and music (slave related) would take place. On the far side of the room there will be a passage into another room. In here there half of the room would be a scale diorama of a slave rebellion, including a burning slave plantation and armed slaves rebelling. Corresponding sounds to the scene will be added as well. The other half of the room would depicted slaves running away, as well as an Underground Railroad house aiding runaway slaves. In each scene, there will be a recorded voice telling what is happening, how it happen, and so forth.

We hope the exhibit will be a great success. We attempt to make the exhibit hands on and interactive and to make the audience think about how the slave era effected all of our lives!!!!!! Our goal is to "teleport" our audience back to the slave era, so that they may have a better understanding of slavery.

Please take our request into consideration.

Sincerely,

Connor S, Steven S, and Steven K-P
